Summit Place Mall

Waterford Michigan

Summit Place Mall is located at 315 North Telegraph Road in Waterford, Michigan.  The mall is accessible from I-696 W and MI-10 N.

Summit Place Mall is anchored by 4 department stores: Marshall Field’s, Kohl’s, JCPenney, and Sears.  The number of retailers at Summit Place has decreased by about 50% in recent years due in part to competition from the newer, larger and more strategically located Great Lakes Crossing Mall in nearby Auburn Hills.  Also, Summit Place Mall lost 2 major anchor stores, Montgomery Ward and Service Merchandise, due to these retailers filing bankruptcy.  However, Summit Place Mall still has a variety of specialty stores from which to choose, and thanks to a congressional law that passed allowing Summit Place Mall owners to receive a tax abatement for redeveloping the site, hopefully more will follow in the coming years.

Along with specialty clothing, sporting goods, jewelry stores, gift shops, and the popular store Graphics Depot, Summit Place Mall houses the Starlight Theater, which hosts concerts, improv comedy, and even acting classes and acting camp.  The mall is also where you can find “My Photographer”, a popular photography studio.  Also located in Summit Place Mall is Victory Martial Arts and Fitness, where people of all ages can take classes in basic self-defense, as well as the Korean martial art, TaeKwondo.

Local residents who grew up shopping at the Summit Place Mall are pleased to know that redevelopment and renovation of the site is in the planning stages.
